INSPIRO INTERNATIONAL RESCUCITATES LABULE

After a brief hiatus on the entertainment scene, Labule the one stop creative community show was revived again at the fully equipped multipurpose event and studio space Superfans Arena Ikeja on Sunday 13th September. The event the brain child of Inspiro productions who also organize the annual Lagos International Jazz Festival, NAIJAZZ and Abuja International Jazz Festival amongst others was not just about music, but was a well package pot-pourri of sorts – spoken word, poetry, dance, musical performances and more.

Labule was interactive and engaging as one performance spontaneously flowed into the other moderated by Inspiro ceo Ayoola Sadare assisted by young comedian PhD. Acoustic guitarist and singer Seun Stics kicked off the show setting the evening’s tone. This was followed by Uche the priest of poetry and an impromptu and welcome appearance by Former PMAN president Tee Mac Omatshola who stole into the show to enjoy himself but was co-opted into the programme as he gave a solo performance with his ever present flute. After this the event went on full gear with performances from Rexx, Femi Ogunniyi (a Yoruba poet), Jazz Trumpeter Etuk Ubong and his quartet, Ace guitarist Adeh, Ivori the spoken word proponent, new female singing sensation Doyinsolami who shone with her dancers singing her current hit single titled ‘Bamidele’. Jazz and Afrofunk Trombone player Femislide took over and spiced his set with strong funky retro style lyrics and a strong musical arrangement with Obadikah Brass Band the fast rising indigenous brass band ensemble who are also now a staple at the African shrine and major live music performances and festivals in the city of Lagos completing their set on a high note. Solo performances were give by identical twins E2E and Efizzi Worldwide All Stars Rare Groove CD compilations artistes represented by a few of their stars including ace producer and performer Hero, neo highlife/hip-hop crooner B Sleek, Slick Joe hip-hop and soul singer amongst others. They all sang tracks from the compilation CD currently making enjoying massive air playing.
The show ended with the crowd enthusiastic that the popular periodic show was really back and ready to meet the objective of what it was conceived for namely a platform for all sorts of creative talents to be showcased. The event was supported by Superfans Arena, Mass Media Partners ltd., Metro FM, Radio One, Smooth FM, Musikal, Configure Systems, Tomidespeaking systems and House Of Dreams.
