
Jonathan had earlier conducted the President-elect round the seat of power. He presented an executive summary of his handover notes and a copy of the National Conference report to Buhari in the presence of All Progressives Congress chiefs who witnessed the event. The outgoing President, who spoke after the presentation, said his administration had done its best for the country. On his part, the President-elect said he would not make an official statement until after studying the handover notes.
He commended Jonathan for conceding defeat in the March 28 presidential election.
Meanwhile about N2 billion have being budgetted as the cost of the inauguration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2015 with over 50 presidents and international figures expected to attend the event. The Eagle Square, venue for the inauguration is already wearing new looks with military personnel expected to have a match parade having their training ahead of the event. Fiftyfour countries of the continent of Africa have been invited. Very many of the head of states will be coming. The programme starts on Friday with Jumat prayer at the National Central Mosque Abuja
A high security strategy is also being put in place for a hitch-free inauguration, all guests for the various segments of the inauguration would be subjected to thorough screening. Roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would be blocked on the inauguration day to ensure smooth movement to and from the Eagle Square.
