When Discovery Air operated by Tunde Babalola came on board in June 2014 many labelled the airline as a fresh breath in the Aviation industry. The commissioning of the airline was with fanfare, it has just recruited the best hands in the industry - new set of air hostesses and pilots with take home pay commensurable with world standard.
Months after operations however, the airline ran into troubled waters, the airline was said to have owed staffs five months salaries, Tunde Babalola who is also into oil and gas admitted the development but insisted he had paid one month arears. The company was also said to be locked in a N2billion debt mess, Tunde Babalola was said to have taken a loan of over N2billion from banks rather than spend the money on the airline operation, he divested the money into his oil business which is why his creditors are hounding him around.
There was also a time when Bi Courtney the landlord at MMIA2 distrupted the airlines operation because of huge debt liability. Because of the company's inability to pay salaries some of the pilots on the payroll of the company resigned. The last straw however happened when NCAA grounded the company's operations.
The regulatory body claimed that the airline failed to carry out stipulated corrective actions pertaining to it's operation, hence the withdrawal of the company's operational license
