OTUNBA SUBOMI BALOGUN AGES GRACEFULLY AT 81 +A LUXURY PORTRAITS OF THE MAN WIDELY ADDRESSED AS THE GRAND MASTER OF NIGERIAN BANKING

"Live your life and forget your age" so says Norman Vincent Pearle. The Olori Omoba of Ijebuland, Otunba Subomi Balogun is ageing gracefully but like the Norman Vincent quote he is living his life to the fullest even at 81 with every good things of life at his beck and call.

Those close to the founder of FCMB will readily agree that he accords special reference to his birthday which is usually marked or celebrated in a remarkable manner. Those who attended his 75th birthday party and his 80th party last year would also agree that Otunba Subomi Balogun don't spare any cost at staging his own birthday, the high society was in full attendance at these two ceremonies.

The Banking icon, clocked 81 few days back and pages of national dailies was decorated with special birthday greetings for him. Presently there are no hint about a loud party for him, sure something is in the pipeline. By the side of Otunba Subomi Balogun at 81 is his inseparable companion, Olori Adetutu Balogun, four sons and grandchildren.

His 80th birthday party is still fresh in our memory, it was a grand celebration that started with a choral communion service of praise and thanksgiving at the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina Lagos. The Church service was filled to capacity with A-list dignitaries in all sectors of life. As usual  the Awujale of Ijebu land Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona led other dignitaries to the ceremony, there were also the Alake and paramount ruler of Egba land, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo, the Osemawe of Owu kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo. Gen Yakubu Gowon, Chief Ernest Shonekan and wife, former Vice President Alex Ekwueme and wife, Gov Ibikunle Amosun and wife, former Gov Gbenga Daniel and wife, Alh Razak Okoya and wife, Justice Olusola Oguntade and wife, Chief Sunny Odogwu and wife and other witnessed the ceremony.

Otunba Subomi Balogun is a man of high style and taste, very comfortable with anything white, little wonder his attire whenever he step out is always white. He drives vintage cars among which are white Rolls Royce Phantom, His luxury mansion in Ikoyi Lagos is a statement of high class and taste.
