This timeless quote portrayed the scenario on Friday March 6, 2015 when two High Society heavy weights was buried in Lagos and Ijebu Ode Ogun states.
The burials of Asoju Oba of Lagos Sir Molade Okoya-Thomas and Ogbeni Oja
Chief Bayo Kuku both shrewd billionaires attracted a full list of the high
society. From Victoria Island Lagos to Ijebu Ode Ogun states the who is
who in Nigeria relocated to the two venues for the burials many are still
talking about.
The creme of the society converged on Friday March 6, 2015 at the Holy
Cross Catholic Cathedral, Lagos for Molade Okoya Thomas funeral service at the
same time the big wigs assembled in Ijebu Ode for the grand burial service for
Ogbeni Oja Chief Bayo Kuku. Later in the day Okoya-Thomas was interred at
the Vaults and Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos, after a funeral service at Holy Cross
Cathedral, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos. Chief Okoya-Thomas died February 1 2015 at 79.
Ogbeni-Oja of Ijebuland, Chief Bayo Kuku who passed on at the age of 84 was
also buried at the same time in his hometown of Ijebu Ode
In Lagos there were in attendance at Molade Okoya-Thomas burial, Minister of
Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, who represented President Goodluck
Jonathan; Senate President, David Mark; national leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu; governors of Lagos, Ogun and Rivers States,
Babatunde Fashola, Ibikunle Amosun and Rotimi Amaechi; deputy governor of Lagos
State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, APC’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State,
Akinwunmi Ambode; former governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki; former
governor of Lagos State, Mobolaji Johnson; Gen. TY Danjuma and his wife, Daisy;
business magnates Aliko Dangote and Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Senator
Gbenga Ashafa and other.
However in attendance at Chief Bayo Kuku's burial in Ijebu Ode were Mr.
Kola Abiola, Mr Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo and a host of
others.
