BATTLE FOR NIGERIA'S FIRST LADY OFFICE HOTS UP, AS PATIENCE JONATHAN, AISHA BUHARI RIDICULE EACH OTHER IN PUBLIC

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and wife of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Hajia Aisha Buhari have been throwing jibes at each other while campaigning for their husbands ahead the March 28, 2015 presidential elections. While Dame Patience Jonathan is doing all within her capacity to remain Nigeria's First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari wants to oust her from the exalted seat by any means necessary.

Dame Patience Jonathan said days back she was afraid of  going to jail, if the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, wins the Presidential election. Mrs. Jonathan, who spoke at a rally in Lagos, said: “I reject to carry food to my husband in prison and l wish you too should reject such an offer. The only way to reject this option is to vote for my husband in the election so that he can continue to listen to you. You will not carry food to your husband in prison."

“Let me tell you while we are building schools, they are building prisons, which they want to send us to. So, l implore you to reject this offer and vote for my husband, President Goodluck Jonathan,  so that he can give you more opportunities to do your business.”

But in her swift reaction, Hajia Aishat Buhari, told the First Lady, Dame Jonathan, not to nurse any fear about anybody going to jail after Buhari’s victory. According to Mrs. Buhari, the citizenry only want a change in the way the nation is being run, she spoke at a mega rally where she interacted with women in Edo State, she added that the PDP’s attempt to paint her husband as a religious fundamentalist was a desperate attempt to hoodwink the people. Only those who want to loot the treasury, she noted, campaign with religion, “which is at variance with politics.
