ABIMBOLA FASHOLA HITS GOLDEN AGE, PLOTS LAVISH SHINDIG

The Lagos and Abuja high societies are at the moment warming up with enthusiasm for the memorable shindig that would mark the 50th birthday celebration of Dame Abimbola Fashola, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.  The first lady of Lagos State would clock 50 on April 6, 2015 and as usual a lavish celebration is expected to happen to welcome the Dame into the golden club. TheCapital describes Dame Abimbola Fashola as a woman of calm composure and quiet dignity who affects an uncommon capacity for hard work and a burning passion to motivate youths to actualize their potentials. Her unassuming carriage and disarming simplicity belie her status as the first Lady of Lagos State, Nigeria’s most populous and economically viable state. With total humility, Abimbola works assiduously behind the scenes to complement the efforts of her husband, Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola.
As the First Lady of Lagos State, she is the Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) a community based; non-governmental organization. Under her leadership, COWLSO has commissioned four recreation centers, and pays for the free screening and treatment of women with breast and cervical cancer. COWLSO is also currently building the first retirement villa for active retirees and senior citizens.

Despite the religious difference in her marriage to the Governor, Abimbola, in her meek and modest style, succeeds in managing her home without a hitch thus substantiating the notion that there is no trouble in her home and religious differences in particular, does not affect her family negatively.

Born on April 6th, 1965 into the Ojo Ibadan Family in Ibadan Oyo State, Abimbola has grown to become a role model to several other women and youngsters in the society.
