Doyin Haastrup-Olatokunbo, Tarmar Awobotu, Ishioma Onyebo and Opeyemi Awoyemi are top super
models, who have ruled the runway for years. All four have made a name and some fortune from the trade which have taken
them to different places on the planet.
DOYIN HAASTRUP- OLATOKUNBO

She is one of the runway queens that ruled for long in fashion shows in
Africa and Europe. Her major break came in 2005 when she became one of the
runners up at the Nokia Face of Africa competition, She was adjudged the tallest
among the finalists standing at 1.84m.
She left the stage for the younger ones in 2008 as she tied the knots with
business man, Ayodeji Olatokunbo. Taking care of the home-front which includes
two children (all boys) really kept her off the scene until recently when she
staged a big comeback with her appearance at the Port Harcourt Fashion Week and
Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2013. Those who saw Doyin strut the runway agreed
she is still in her element.
Presently, Doyin Haastrup Olatokunbo, alongside others were the promoters of
a new modelling competition called Pearl Look. The team is currently working to
stage the second edition early 2014.
ISHIOMA ONYEBO

She hit limelight years back, via participation in the Nokia Face of Africa.
Ishioma ruled the runway at fashion shows in Europe, Africa and America, and
when it appeared she had call it quits, she staged a big comeback at the recent
Port Harcourt Fashion Week and Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2013. At those two
shows, Ishioma shone like a million stars as she paraded sumptuous designs on
the runway.
Aside modeling, Ishioma operates a boutique called Esther’s Closet in Ikeja,
Lagos. The tall and slim runway queen is a lover of good cars. One of her rides is a
red 2 door Convertible BMW Z4.
TARMAR OLUWASEUN
AWOBOTU
Tarmar Awobotu is a picture of elegance. Tall, slim and sexy, her face looms
large at popular fashion shows in Johannesburg, London and America. The 5feet
11inches tall runway queen started out years back when she was crowned Miss
Tourism.
She moved to South Africa to continue her modelling career. Tarmar, who recently spoke
from South Africa said, “I can’t count all the shows I have
done. I have done quite a lot – Arise Fashion Week Nigeria, Arise Fashion Week
South Africa, South Africa Fashion Week, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, South
Africa, Johannesburg Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Nigerian Fashion Week
Isreal, Lagos Fashion Week, Native n Vogue Fashion Week recently, and the just
concluded Lagos Fashion and Design Week”. How do you now cope honouring all these shows? we asked her. “It is my job as
a model to be able to handle my work load. If I know I can’t cope with it, I
won’t bother going for the casting. The joy of any model is to work as often as
possible. However, there are times I just turn off myself, I tell my agency I
need a break may be two weeks or one month, I just rest at home or travel”.
Tarmar was at her best when she graced the runway recently at the Lagos
Fashion and Design Week 2013. The University of Lagos graduate who won the coveted Top Model Worldwide in 2012 is counting her
blessings as a model based in South Africa.
OPEYEMI AWOYEMI

She emerged runner-up at the just concluded Africa’s Next Top Model, Opeyemi Awoyemi may not have won the competition, but she is surely taking away many positives from the contest. She is beautiful and has the aura of a good and quality model. Opeyemi, having auditioned for the Oluchi Orlandi's Africa's Next Top Model was chosen alongside 11 other girls from all over Africa for contest. At the house, she alongside Aamito from Uganda and Michaela from Angola made it to the grand finale where the battle was moved to New York, USA, at the end, Aamito was crowned winner of the contest. The sky is just the starting point for her.
